The New South Wales Government to-day agreed to provide a guarantee of £ 10,000 for the British Empire Games to be held in Sydney in January, 1938, coinciding with the hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the State.

It is proposed to include in the programme track and field games, swimming and diving, cycling, boxing, v/restling, bowls, and scul'ing. For Ihe time being the question of women's sports has been shelved. STATE ANNIVERSARY DUKE AND DUCHESS OF KENT INVITED (Received July 23, 11.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 23. The State Cabinet to-day discussed preliminary details for commemorating the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the State, and decided to invite the Duke and Duchess of Kent to visit Australia early in 1938.
