N.Z. INSTITUTE FOR THE BLIND
+ ' BAND'S ITINERARY ARRANGED Arrangements for the visit of the band of the New Zealand Institute for the Blind, which will arrive in the city during its forthcoming Dominion tour on Saturday, October IS. and will remain here until the following Monday, were discussed at a meeting of the advisory committee to the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund for the Blind, which was held in the City Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. The chairman, Mr H. Holland, MP., presided, and there were also present Mrs J. G. Collins, Messrs A. Williams, A. J. McEldowney, and W. T. Woods (secretary). A letter was received from Sir Clutha Mackenzie, director of the in- . stitute, stating that arrangements for the tour were almost completed, and that the suggestion of a visit oy the band had been received most favourably everywhere. The men themselves were fit.and well, and looking forward keenly to the tour, which, he thought, would be most successful. It was decided to ask Mr H. Sweney to organise the band concert in the city on the Saturday afternoon, and to act as stage manager for the concerts on the Sunday afternoon and evening. It was also resolved to request the Commercial Travellers* and Warehousemen's Association to assist at the concerts. The Waimakarlri River Trust wrote ftating that it had a considerable quantity of willow sticks for disposal, and that the institute would be welcome to them. The secretary was instructed to notify Sir Clutha Mackenzie of the offer.
