Over the week-end the Methven Club will play a match against Lake Coleridge Club, at Lake Coleridge. The team chosen is as follows:—Gf. Waddington, H. Farr. D. G. Wallace, J. Temple, S. M. Jackman, P. Compigne, A. R. Gourlay, Mrs Alex. Lawrence, and Miss Rona Waddington. The Methven Golf Club played the first round of the club- championship, when D. G. Wallace beat Geo. Petrie, J. Temple beat K. Fryer, H. Fryer beat R. Jack by default, H. Fryer beat C. C, Unwin. An 18-holes stroke handicap was won by H. Farr, with a score of 85—16—69. The next best cards were:~P. A. Watson 83—11—72, H. Fryer 88—11—77, Geo. Waddington 94—16—78. S. M. Jackman 101—22—79. The draw for the second round of the championship is as follows:—P. A. Watson plays J. Temple. H. Fryer plays A. CHEVIOT CLUB On Saturday the members of the Cheviot Golf Club will play the first qualifying round of the championship. The remaining rounds will be played on August 3 and 4, the two best scores to count. Entries are being receiv for a fourball championship, for a trophy given by the president A Cheviot team visited Hawarden, and played a friendly match, which resulted in a win for the latter team. The day was fine. AKAROA CLUB The final 18 holes of the Waddell Cup were played with Mrs C. A. Young and W. B. Ramsay proving the winners over the 30 holes.
