—s — Rejected In Alberta RECONSTRUCTION PLANS UPSET (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—ELECTRIC TKLEGRAI'H —COPYRIGHT.) (Received June 28, 10 p.m.) EDMONTON (Alberta), June 27. The House of Commons rejected a social credit resolution. This leaves the plan for Alberta in jeopardy. Mr Alfred Speakman (United Farmers' party) moved to reorganise the Canadian financial system along social credit lines. Waves of "Noes" from the Conservatives and Liberals rendered a recorded vote unnecessary. The Alberta social credit party hod planned to contest the next provincial eleclion, but the Commons vote dashes their hopes o securing the Dominion's permission to issue scrip as recommended by Major Douglas. [The Government, after a heated debate, decided in April of this year to bring Major Douglas to Alberta to advise on reconstruction. Major Douglas was engaged under a two-year contract to advise as to what extent his proposals were practical within provincial jurisdiction; and what initial :.teps of any kind were best calculated to bring about the greatest amount of economic relief to the people of the province.!
