MAILS LOST ON TASMAN FLIGHT
COMPENSATION REI'TSED (Received June 22, 11 p.m.; SYDNEY. June 2il. The Postal Department here disclaims liability, and has refused compensation to the senders of registered letters which were lost m the Southern Cross's jubilee air mail flight. The department has replied to several applicants for compensation deeply regretting the loss of the mails, which was "caused by happenings beyond the department s control."
