These included 11 accidents and four country calls—the latter totalling 146 | miles. The total mileage for the week was WO. Divisional Notes The u?i;al narade of the Christchurch Ambulance Division was held on Wednesday evening. There was n good attendance of members, under Ambulance Officer P. A. Wentworth, who presided in the absence of Superintendent William Palmer, who was indisposed. The mam business of the evening was the divisional competition for the Chapman Cup and Vases. After a keen competition, the winners were Privates A. M. Evans (squad leader), T. E. Shaw, A. Ferguson, and S Kodgers. The New Brighton Nursing Division met. in the high school rooms on Tuesday evening. Mrs E. Robertson, lady superintendent, was in charge. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs Grammer in her recent bereavement. The evening was spent in a "question bee." Public duties for the week were arranged. There was a good attendance of members of the Lyttelton Railway Ambulance Division at the sub-centre rooms on Monday evening. Superintendent J. Lester was in charge, 1 and a "question bee" on the general principles in first aid was held. Notification of the half-yearly parade and inspection on July 8 was given, this being followed by a short business meeting. One .new member was admitted. The Selwyn Nursing Division met at the brigade rooms on Tuesday evening, there being a fair attendance of members. In the absence ol Mrs Angus, Mrs Watt took charge. Under the supervision of the corps superintendent, members practised first aid. Duties were arranged for St. John Ambulance and at sports grounds. The No. 3 Ambulance Division held its usual weekly parade on Thursday evening. Superintendent D. J. Somerville was in chcrge of the parade, and was assisted by Ambulance Officer N. Milne. Public" duties for the coming 1 week were arranged, including duty at the ambulance station. Practice in first-aid was held during the first half of the evening. Subsequently Ambu-j lance Officer N. Milne gave members 1
a very interesting lecture on "Regulations of the St. John Ambulmce Association and Brigade (Overseas)." Members were reminded of the St. John Ambulance jubilee ball, to be held at headquarters this evening. The Beekenham Nursing Division held, its weekly meeting on Thursday evening. There was a good attendance, with Mrs Gay in charge. Public duty wes arranged for the St. John Ambulance and sports fields. Dr. Birkinshaw attended, and brought with him a portable X-ray, which he demonstrated to the division. A very interesting evening was spent, and Dr. Birkinshaw was accorded a vote of thanks for his demonstration. Jubilee Church Parade Nearly 300 senior members and cadets of the St. John Ambulance Brigade attended divine service in the Durham Street Methodist Church on Sunday last. Dr. F. J. Borrie, assistant commissioner, was in charge of the parade, rnd the Rev. Clarence Eaton conducted the service. The parade, headed by the Municipal Band, marched to the church, leaving the headquarters. Peterborough street, at 10.45 a.m. On arrival at the door of the church each member was greeted by the officiating minister. The assistant commissioner later thanked all those who had attended the parade, making special mention pf the Rev. Clarence Eaton and the bandmaster, Mr J. Annand.
