PREMIER THEATRE
"THE BARRETTS OF WIMPOLB STREET" The same romantic team which won such ovations in "Smilin' Through"— Norma Shearer and Fredric Marchare together again in Metro Goldwyu Mayer's wonder attraction, "The Barretts of Wimpole Street," which commences a three-night season at the Premier Theatre, New Brighton, today. Miss Shearer, as the star, naturally carries the brunt of the film—and carries it with all the grace and polish of a finished actress. As the invalided Elizabeth, she brings a poignant wistfulness to her characterisation that reaches deep down into the hearts of the audience. The poetic love story of the new film is reminiscent of "Smilin' Through," the stars' greatest nit in its main theme, and sentimental appeal. Like the other It is a colourful costume picture, set in a great romantic age. Others In the cast include Maureen O'Sullivan, Ralph Forbes, Una O'Connor, Charles Laughton, and Ketherine Alexander, and all give of their best. Also an the programme is the beautiful coloured cartoon, "The .Discontented Canary," wtych is a perfect gem to itself Box plans for all reserves tit at Hudson's Chemist* or telephone theatre, 37-447.
