COLLEGE INSURANCE 'I ENDOWMENT not as successful as , anticipated (■KKX4I *o ra* »»»MJ NEIBON. June 27., At the annual meeting of the Nelson College Old Boys' Association the retiring president, Mr W. Carrol Barley, said that the insurance endowment scheme had not so far taken' on &s well as was anticipated. The executive realised that at present men were reluctant to commit themselves ior the future, but with improvin,- conditions he hoped that many more Old Boys would jolnthe scheme. A suggestion from one branch for drawing up a building programme each five years out of the insurance fund could not be carried out as tfce association did not know;how much it was going to get. appreciating the good work of members of the College Council of Governors, he stated It was the association s Wish to have mwe old .boys on thejWunciL and *l«*> mojfe eld W? on the stefl Of the college. ■■ . ' A letter was received from the principal, Mr H. V. Searle, drawing attention to the fact that the Rugby and cricket honours board went back only as far as 1904, and asking if the association could assist in the completion of the boards. It was stated that the Nelson and Wellington Colleges played the first inter-school Rugby match in the Dominipn in 1876. The letter was referred to the executive.
