KAIAPOI MALE VOICE CHOIR
CONCERT FOR ST. ALBANS BOWLING CLUB To assist the funds of the St. Albans Bowling Club, the Kaiapoi Male Voice Choir repeated in the Rugby street Methodist schoolroom last evening the successful concert it gave in the Grand Theatre, Kaiapoi, on Tuesday evening last. There was a very good attendance, and the choir was assisted by Mr Robert Malcolm (elocutionist), who gave the monologues, "The Old Squire" and "Soldier Dan," and Miss Cicely Audibert, whose numbers were "A Summer's Night," "La Danza,"
! "Cradle Song," "Les Filles de Cadiz," l "Trees," and "Comin' Thru* the Rye" j The ltfms given by the choir showed very careful preparation, and were a ! tribute to the conductorship of Mr | Charles Clarkson. The musical" ; standard was well maintained, and the programme well varied and interesting. On the whole, it was rather surprising that a country choir could attain so high a standard. The following were the items given:—"Hymn Before Action" (Walford Davies), "The (MacMurroueh), "Absent" f Met call), "The Huntsman's Farewell" (Mendelssohn), "My Old Shako" (Troitere), "Song of the Bow" (Ayhvard), "Evening" (Abt), the solo part being taken by Mr H. J. Mcintosh, "The Letter" (Hatton), "Home, Sweet Home" (Ard Parks), "Sailor's Chorus" (rom "Flying Dutchman" (W| ner). The, accompanist was Miss L S. Clothier. At the conclusion of the concert the soloists and choir - were entertained at supper.
