OPENING OF DE LUtXE RINK This evening the De Hixe Roller Skating Rink, Kilmore street (opposite the Caledonian Hall), will open its doors to patrons. The De Luxe is claimed ; to be the most elficently appointed and up-to-date rink in New Zealand. Controlled by a management thai is backed by considerable experience ini the skating business in other parte of the world, the citizens of Christchurch are assured of conditions hitherto unknown in local skating. The rink is housed in a building that has been especially built ana artistically designed for the purpose. The floor has an area of 14,C'7G square feet, and has been particularly designed to provide speed and safety. The surface is of bitumen laid by British Pavements. Ample and comfortable accommodation is provided for patrons fcsnd spectators by means of upholstered and tiered seating that encircles the floor. The illumination has been artistically designed to give a soft glarelcss effect, which, combining with a ta:.ftelul colour scheme of white, gr(ten, and lemon, produces a pleasing The floor will be conducted under strict supervision by a stafl of competent instructors, who will eliminate the risk of accident. The music will be provided by the most modern method of electlrical recording from specially selected 1 and amplified over the whoSt; rink. Special sessions will be held for children and beginners, who are assured of highly qualified assistance and supervision. The cloak-room accommodation is both commodious and convenient. Light refreshments will be available at all times.'
