CARD EVENING At the band card evening the winners were Mrs N. R. Comer and Mrs H. D. Stove (the latter taking the men's prize). Trotting Clnb The annual meeting of members of the Kaikoura Trotting Club was held at the Masonic Hall. Mr W. S. Bennett (president) presided. The president, in his report, stated that the club had passed through a dormant year, as it had been decided not to hold a race meeting this year. The club was better of! financially by £5, although assets had ben written down by £75. It was the duty of the meeting to decide whether a race meeting should be held in February, and consideration would need to be given to the matter. The secretary (Mr W. F. Perrin) submitted the balance-sheet, showing the receipts to have been £122 3s 6d (inclusive of £55 3s 6d brought forward), and the expenditure £64 Os 3d. Assets were shown as £5lO 19s lid, with no liabilities. After discussion. Mr T. Alexander moved, to test the feeling of the meeting, that the club disband, Mr N C Vale seconding pro forma. Mr A. B. Clark suggested that a further opportunity, should be given the. public to decide the question, saying that a sub-committee should be appointed to canvass the district for members and donations M-Kerr moved to this effect and Mr E. H. Workman seconded. The amendment was carried. The following officers we?e elected • -Patrons, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes (Prune Minister) and Mr E. F. Healv M.p.; president, Mr W. S.
