Replying to the council's letters relative to the proposal to carry out alterations and extensions to the Papanui Memorial; Hall with the object of providing a larger library the Under-Secretary to the Department of Internal Affairs has advised the Christchurch City Council, that the application for legislative authority to utilise the sum of £2OO, held by the council in trust for the purchase of another library site, in contributing toward the cost of the alterations, is being considered. Mr R. W. Hawke, MJP., has advised that he will wpport the council's application.
