EUGENICS CONDEMNED

COPE'S ATTACK ON GERMAN EXAMPLE VATICAN CITY, May 24. The Pope, receiving representatives to the Hospital Congress, condemned eugenics and expressed distress that the subject was included in the congress agenda, especially when a delegate stated that every country would follow Germany's example. The Pope expressed the hope that this would never happen. If it did the world would return to the horrors of ancient paganism which produced beauty in art, but immorality in social life.

GERMAN STERILISATION STATISTICS (Received May 26, 9.5 p.m.) BERLIN, May 25. During the first year of operation of the sterilisation law, 56,224 persons were treated, of whom 42,903 were males. The Court of Eugenics rejected 3692 applicants.
