ELMBANK'S ROUGH TRIP

HEAVY SEA SHIPPED (rJBEsa fcssoci&no* TJELIOB.M£.\ AUCKLAND, May 25. Stormy weather was encountered by the British motor-ship Elmbank on a trip from Nauru Island with 8800 tons of phosphate. She sailed on May 14, and late on the night of May 17 shipped a heavy swell, which flooded the forecastle knee-deep, damaging the crew's effects. Conditions remained stormy till midnight on Thursday, and the freighter occasionally shipped large quantities of water. Early yesterday afternoon she passed the Japanese cruiser, then north of Moko Hinau. The Etrnbank, after completing her discharge at New Plymouth, Wanganui, and Sydney, will load copra in the Solomons and New Guinea for the Continent, via Cape Town. Her English officers have already been 21 months on this side of the world.
