Evidence in the action for a claim of £ 5000 by Mary Barton Amy Shaw against the Mackenzie County Council, which was begun on Wednesday, was concluded ta-day. The was heard before his Honour Mr Justice Johnston, and special jury of 12. ' The jury retired at 4 p.m. and returned at 9.15 p.m., awarding plaintiff £2500 damages, one-third being for the widow, and two-thirds for the 10 children, to be distributed at the discretion "of the court.
