RAILWAY MYSTERY TRAMP
EXCURSION TO MOUNT GREY DISTRICT The Mount Grey district has been selected for the Railway Department's second mystery tramping excursion, which has been arranged for Sunday, May 19. The walk will be of some 11 miles over private property, but a more strenuous and longer tramp is available for those desiring it This will be the second occasion on which a mystery train has taken trampers to the Mount Grey district, but. an entirely new route has been mapped out over country which provides good walking and some very fine views. The previous tramp in this locality attracted a record crowd of 650 trampers an 4 the owner of the property considers the present walk to be even better than the one followed in August last year. Hot water, tea, milk, and sugar wil be provided free at an excel- | lent location in the hills, suitable for 1 afternoon tea. The train will leave [ the Christchurch station at 9 a.m. ' A special day excursion from the. Cheviot branch to Christchurch has " been arranged by the department for ' Friday, Hay 17, and this should afford „ the residents on the Cheviot branch an * excellent oppbrtunity for visiting the I city.
