FRENCH AIR STRENGTH
SUPERIORITY TO GERMANY CLAIMED
BETTER GROUND ORGANISATION
PARIS, May 5. The French Air Force is stronger, numerically and better trained than the German, also it is equally modern, according to an article in the Radical weekly "Notre Temps." The aerial man-power of France is given as 36,000 and aerodromes number 160, the latter being superior in number and quality to the German aerodromes. In 1936 France will possess 2000 new bombing and fighting aeroplanes, some of which are capable of flying at 250 miles an hour and others at 235 miles an hour, with a range of 1250 miles. In addition 150 new liaison aeroplanes, beside several 1000 older ones, and 200 to 700 commercial and private aeroplanes could be mobilised for military purposes. Germany does not possess private aeroplanes but has more commercial machines.
RUSSIA'S HUGE FLEET
LONDON, May 5. Moscow press reports state that more than 3000 aeroplanes and 3000 tanks participated in the May Day celebrations throughout Russia. The largest estimate of Soviet aeroplanes hitherto was 1500. The "Sunday Times" comments: "This is Stalin's answer to Hitler with a vengeance."
