Alarm Expressed By Parents
SERVICES TO COLLEGE PRAISED
(JC.RJB3B A3BOUIATIOK lELEGBAII.) AUCKLAND, May 6. The Rev. H. K. Archdall, M.A., headmaster of King's College, stated this morning that he had sent in his resignation as headmaster to the St. John's College Trust Board, the governing body of King's College. He added that his resignation would take effect from July 12. He has the headmaster since August, 1926. At a boys' concert at the college, there was an unrehearsed incident during the interval, when a P a i' spoke and praised the work of both Mr Archdall and the college, saying that parents were alarmed at the news that the headmaster had resigned. He asked the parents present to stay behind at the end of the concert, and discuss the mattei. A meeting was subsequently held, and there were present about 50 parents. The headmaster retired. The following resolution was carried: — That this meeting of parents views with alarm the forthcoming departure of the headmaster of King's College and asks that the Board of Governors summon a meeting of parents as early as possible for the purpose of discussing the situation," Asked to make a statement about the matter, Archbishop Averill said that at present he could not say anything.
