HARMONIC SOCIETY'S CONCERTS
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY
Christchurch is slow to appreciate the good work of its own people, and many Christchurch people have yet to hear the splendid choral work of the Harmonic Society under its conductor, Mr Victor C. Peters. In Dunedin recently the work of the choir was acclaimed. with almost embarrassing superlatives, and a good deal of the programme which so captivated the audience of nearly 8000 people in Dunedin will be repealed on Thursday and Friday nights at the Civic Theatre, when the choir will make its first appearance here for 1935. The programme will cater for oil tastes, Lambert's "Riy Grande," and Vauyhati Williams's "In Windsor Forest," £as ihe moOem* jack's
wonderful choruses from the B Minor Mass, and a less known chorus of Handel, for lovers of the great masters. The ever-popular "Traction Engine," "The Campbells are CominV and El* gar's Bavarian Ilighlanos Suite, will have a universal appeal. The society is fortunate to be able to introduce to Christchurch the talented Bucklln sisters, 'cellist and violinist, of California, at present paying » short visit to their father, Who is the United States Consul General to New Zealand. The Misses BucUlin are musicians equal to the finest talent heard in . New Zealaind, and will, appear a$ soloists' and in conjunction with Mr Frederick Page in an instrumental trio. The visiting artists will return to America almost immediately, and Mr Page will shortly leave fa* England, so that their appearance should nisi be missed. * The Vocal soloist will' be Mr Claude O'Hagan, baritone, and Miss Blanche Atkinson will be at the piano. Thi bo- plan is now open at Chas. Beg:; and Company's.
