COUNTY COUNCILS

HEATHCOTE The Heathcote County Council held its last meeting before the election last evening. Cr. C. Flavell presided, and there were also present Crs. J. P. Scott, A. G. Williams, F. W. Freeman. W. W. Scarff, W. Kerr, and E. Rowse. Messrs A. Ludecke and R. Stcans waited on the council as a deputation from the Opawa Amateur Swimming Club, to put before the council the need for repairs at the Opawa bath, owned by the council. Mr Ludecke stated that the club had a large membership, including 150 school children. There was an inadequate water supply, and general repairs .in the equipment of the bath were necessary. It was hoped also that it would be possible to obtain the services of a caretaker. The council decided that the bath should be inspected by councillors. It was decided to apply to the Tramway Board for the erection of a shelter at the tram terminus at the foot of Rapaki road.
