VAUXHALL LIGHT SIX
MANY IMPROVEMENTS ON PREVIOUS MODELS A very interesting newcomer among the latest motor-car models is the new 1935 Vauxhall light six, with independent front wheel springing, more popularly called knee-action. Thousands of motorists became Vauxhall light six owners during 1934—and this new edition' appears to be destined for even greater success. It looks bigger, has more leg and elbow room. It is lower, smarter, due to the new cruciform frame construction and special body mounting. It is sensibly stream-lined with graceful built-in luggage boot and spare wheel Compartment. And the engine is more efficient and smoother, due to a higher compression ratio, automatic ignition, induction hot-spot and flexible rubber cushioning. Tyres are bigger, brakes are greatly improved, but by far the most outstanding improvement is the entire absence of a normal front axle! Independent front wheel springing (knee-action wheels) has taken its place. The difference it makes to riding comfort is amazing. Riding becomes gliding, bumps and pot-holes may be there but they are no longer felt. Steering is easier, safer, and rear seat passengers can lounge back comfortably without experiencing the usual bumping and bouncing. Ventilation System Another important point about the new Vauxhall is the no-draught ventilation system. In their no-draught system, Vauxhall cars have made the biggest contribution of recent years toward safer motoring. It provides a system which, while being good in itself, is so pleasing in its action as to encourage its use. Through all the most flagrant abuse, the Vauxhall nodraught system lives right up to its /name and really ventilates —is different from merely causing a disturbance of air inside the car. To the Vauxhall Company belongs the credit for really doing something along fresh lines in the interests of safer motoring. This improvement must be general and some means of ventilation must be adopted, regardless of expense throughout the industry.
