In Other Centres Auckland—The weather generally was line yesterday, but temperatures •were much colder. The thermometer at 4 p.m. registered 57 degrees. The barometer remained below 29.50 Inches until mid-day, but then began to rise. There was a fresh southerly wind. Dunndin—Overcast and showery weather v/as experienced yesterday with a moderate south-west wind and a maximum temperature of 51 degrees. The barometer was steady at 29.55 in. FORECAST (From readings taken at 4 p.m.) General Situation—A deep depression is still located east of New Zea-

land, while an anti-cyclone is advancing across the Tasman Sea.

Winds—Weslcrlay at first about Cook Strait; otherwise moderate to strong, southerlies prevailing and reaching gale force at times on exposed headlands. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Rough generally, with a heavy southerly swell. Eastern Tasman Sea—Strong but gradually decreasing southerly winds; rough seas. Weather—For the most part fine; but still rather changeable, with some scattered' showers at times, especially on the east coast and in the far south. Temperatures cold, with frosts inland.
