Harris, the chairman reported that neither Mudgway nor Borcovsky was available to meet Harry Hughes here in a professional contest next week, whilst Sterling was also prevented from coming owing to. his engagement with the Otago Association for May 13. A match had, however, been arranged between Hughes and Clarrie Rayner. to be held here on either Monday, May 20, or Wednesday, May 22. This "would be preceded by four or five good amateur bouts, and next month it was hoped to stage a bout between Hughes and Stirling here for the welter-weight title.
