NEW ZEALAND'S STORY
Short History of New Zealand. By J. B. Condliffe, M.A., D.Sc., and Willis X. G. Airey, M.A. Whitcombe and Tombs, Lid. 289 pp. (4/- net.) The book is noteworthy chiefly for its good grouping of New Zealand history into more or less homogeneous divisions and subdivisions. This; is done with remarkably little sacrifice of continuity, and for teachers this logical arrangement of historical matter is particularly useful. The text is clear and sufficiently detailed to provide a thoroughly useful introduction to the history of this country. Its compactness necessarily deprives it of much of the interest that attaches to more detailed volumes. The addition of a chapter on New Zealand in relationship, to world affairs remedies an obvious lack in existing popular histories.
