BUSINESS AFFECTED IN CHINA
RESULT OF AMERICAN SILVER POLICY BRITAIN URGED TO lIJSLP (JJJttITISU OFFICIAL WIBELSSS.) (Received May 3, 8.5 p.m.) RUGBY, May 2. At the annual meeting of Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., Sir Harry McGowan, the chairman,' referred to the situation in China where, owing to the American silver policy, prices were falling badly, affecting business and in particular causing increasingly difficult financial conditions. That country, he was much in need of outside financial help, and he would be glad to see Britain taking a hand, even a lead, in arranging that, and generally showing interest in Chinese affairs.
