KAIAPOI BOROUGH COUNCIL

The fortnightly meeting of the Kaiapoi Borough Council was held last night. Those present were: The Mayor (the Rev. W. H. A. Victory), Councillors A. E. Brown, C. M. Williams, J. Hirst, F. Thome, J. W." Barnard, H. Rinaldi, E. Gray, and J. D. Williams. The secretary of the Kaiapoi Jubilee Celebration Committee wrote ■ extending an invitation to the council to take part in the jubilee celebrations. The invitation was accepted. The engineer of the Waimakariri River Trust wrote advising that the contractor clearing weeds in the Cam river had been instructed to do everything possible to prevent the intakes to fire sumps being blocked, and suggested that &s the blockages are liable to occur at any time, periodical inspections be made of the intakes at low water. The letter was received The financial statement showed receipts since last meeting as £396 18s Wd and the credit bank balance as ±.13 Zs 3d. Accounts passed for Daymen! were £659 9s 3d.
