_4 . APRIL FIGURES REVEAL FALLING TENDENCY Vital statistics for the Christchurch. district during April indicate that the fall in the number of births each month continues. For April of this year there were 152 births, compared with 182 in April, 1934, a decrease of 3D. There was also an unfavourable balance in the figures dealing with deaths during the month, the number in April, 1935, being 120, and the number for April, 1934, 101. This is an increase of 19. Because of Easter falling in April of this year the figures for marriages show a considerable increase. The full details follow:
