EXPERIENCE IN CHRISTCHURCH
CHEAP FARES DO NOT ANSWER PURPOSE "While the cheap fares have brought more passengers to the trams in Christchurch, they have not brought in more money, proportionately," said the chairman of the Christchurch Tramway Board. Mr J. K. Archer, when this message was referred to him. There had been a really wonderful summer this year, and this had given the experiment every chance of success, but it had to be said, he thought, that cheap fares in Christchurch had not answered the purpose for which they were treated. The proposal to issue cheap sports tickets on Saturday afternoons, for persons attending sports fixtures, had never been considered in Christchurch, .said Mr Archer.
