PORTNEY BEATS BROWN SYDNEY, April 30. At the Sydney Stadium the Canadian, Jack Fortney, lOst 51b, beat the American, Willard Brown, lOst 51b, on a technical knock-out in the sixth round of a one-sided encounter. Brown was down three times in the first round, with an eye badly gashed. , HARVEY BEATS LAURIOT LONDON, April 29. In the Blackfriars ring, 10 rounds, Len Harvey beat the Frenchman, Marcel Lauriot, on points. The Frenchman was down for the count of nine in the first round, from a left hook. Harvey was the cleverer boxer, but he slowed up half-way. Otherwise the fight was unlikely to have gone the full distance.
