JUBILEE OF ENGINEERS COMPANY

1 MEETING AT KING EDWARD ] HARRACKS , ] There was a fair attendance of men formerly connected with the 3rd Field J Company, New Zealand Engineers, at a gathering at the King Edward Bar- : racks on Wednesday evening, when old records were searched, and memories racked for names and addresses of men who had served in the company as volunteers, expeditionary men, or territorials. The 3rd Field Company has bad a long and interesting history. It was founded In 1885, and therefore celebrates its golden jubilee this year. In order to celebrate the occasion fittingly, it was decided previously to hold a smoke concert at the barracks at a date yet to be fixed, when all factors connected with the company can meet and go over old times together. • Volunteers were formed as the No. 1 Field Company, continuing as such until 1911, when the voluntary was merged into territorial training, and the company known as the Southern Depot, New Zealand Engineers. In 1913 the company was placed once more on a voluntary basis, and is now known as the 3rd Field Company, New Zealand engineers. It was decided that all those connected with the company who arc still living in Christchurch be requested to get in touch with the officials at the barracks as soon as possible. =====
