CROQUET GREENS Several of the women who are interested in the formation of a croquet club, approached Mr J. Sturrock, secretary of St. James' Park Improvement Committee, about the laying down of the greens in the new grounds, adjoining the park. It was stated that it was felt that the grass should be sown as soon as possible, so as play could be commenced next season. It was explained that it was intended to hold a series of social evenings during the winter months, to raise funds for the necessary equipment. Card Parties The Waimairi League Football Club's social committee reopened their weekly card evenings on Wednesday at the Papanui buildings. There was a large attendance. In the womens' section the resuirwasrMrs Hubert"!, "MissrE. Smith 2, Mrs C. Smith 3, and in the men's section: Mr P. Mumford 1, Mr C. Blackmore 2, Mr R. G. Morrison 3. A dance was held afterwards. The music was played by Mrs C. Smith. MI- Alan Smith was master of ceremonies. The Papanui Horticultural Society held their weekly card evening in the Memorial Hall. Mrs Spiers and Mrs W. W. Tavlor were equal for first [place and Mrs Biggs was third. School Committee The Papanui School Committee -vish to thank the following committees for their help and support in connexion with the recent Queen Carnival. Yellow Queen: Mesdames Donald, Leach, Paihi, Winder, ' Donaldson, Messrs Donaldson, Fraser, Jeal, Leach, and Winder. Blue Queen: Mesdames Wray, Nettleton, Smith, Kettle, Henderson, Easter, Laughlin, Misses Wray, le Compte, Church. Messrs G. Wray, Henderson, Easter, Nettleton, Kettle. Craddock, Bromley, Derrett, Gatenby, L. Wray. Green Queen: Mesdames Cains, Grimwood, Jones, J. Lange, Lowe, McJarrow, A. Robinson, Sandford, Hill, Messrs Donald, Cains, Grimwood, Jones, J. Lange, Lowe, McJarrow, A. Robinson, Hill, and Sandford. Red Queen: Mesdames Wright, Ohs, L Claridge, Price, Ewinson, Craighead, Cothier, Ward, Dyer, Burnip, Miss Price, Messrs Cothier, Claridge, Dyer, N. Smith, Wright, and Kilpatrick.
