MORAL STANDARDS

The New Morality. By Percival James, M.A. The Publications Committee of St. John's Young Men's Bible Class, Wellington. 18 pp. Canon James, of St. Paul's ProCathedral, Wellington, has written this very able study of the "new morality" from a Christian standpoint. The canon follows the late Dr. Newsom in seeing two main points in the new .morality, viz.:— (a) Absolute sex-freedom, and (b) the assertion that such an ideal is in harmony with the progress of modern science and civilisation. Canon James very trenchantly criticises this ideal and its implications. His brochure ought to make a favourable impression even on those who do not agiee with it.
