PURCHASE OF PARK SUGGESTED
SUBDIVISION OF ELMWOOD ESTATE Messrs E. H. Andrews and R. B. Owen yesterday placed before the Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.) the suggestion of the Christchurch Beautifying Association, that portion of the Elmwood estate, which is to be subdivided, should be acquired by the city council to form a new park to commemorate the jubilee of King George. Mr Sullivan mentioned the financial difficulties of making such a purchr.se. but undertook to seek a discussion with the Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes about the liability likely to be involved. When that information n available the Mayor will hold another conference with representatives of the Beautifying Association.
