HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
MEETING OF MANAGEMENT
COMMITTEE
The management committee of the Canterbury Horticultural Society met Jast evening. Mr L. B. Hart presided. The New Zealand Institute of Horticulture, through the secretary (Mr J. McLeod), wrote congratulating the society on its exhibit at the recent national flower show in Dunedin. "This exhibit was an outstanding success, being much admired, and contributed largely to the unqualified success of one of the best shows ever held in this' Dominion." wrote Mr McLeod.
It was resolved -to hold a presentation of prizes for the various recent competitions of -the society on Tuesday evening next, April 16. judges and class stewards for the chrysanthemum' show on Thursday and Friday, May 2 and 3, were appointed a3 follows: — Chrysanthemum, open: Judges, Messrs H. Cropp and A. L. Cant; class steward, Mr C. H. Moir. Fot plants and cut flowers: Judge, Mr F. A. Jones; class steward, Mr H. E. Otley. Decorative section: Ladies to be submitted by the ladies' committee and approved by the executive. Fruit: Judge, Mr H. O. Brooks; class steward, Mr L. B. Hart. Vegetables: Judge, Mr C. D. Marks; class steward, Mr H. H. H. Gardiner. It was decided to hold a special meeting of the committee on May 7 to consider the definitions of "amateur," "open," and "novice," as used in the society's schedule.
