PLEASANT WEEK-END
BRIGHT, CLEAR DAYS J The bright, clear clay yesterday was evidently appreciated by many Christchurch residents, the Cashmere Hills, in particular, being a favourite place. The trams to the hills yesterday were well patronised, and many people walked to Victoria Park, which has become a favourite spot for picnickers. Saturday was as pleasant a day as yesterday, although it was cooler. In the morning the day yesterday was calm, but in the afternoon a very light, north-easterly sprang up. In the sun the maximum temperature was 127 degrees, the maximum in the shade being 71 degrees. There was a frost of 6 points. On Saturday there was no frost, the minimum temperature being 34 degrees. The, maximum in the sun was 124 ; degrees and the maximum in the j shade 61 degrees. To date this year , 3.03 inches of rain have been re- j : corded at the Magnetic Observatory, I« compared with 0.75 last year.
