TIMARU RAM FAIR Ki:i-:.\ SALE FOR FLOCKS •mr-is i at in* TIMARU, March The annual ram fair held under the auspices of the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association to-day proved the best held for some time, the prices generally being in advance of those ruling at the ram fairs jn other parts of the South Island. This season, little interest was taken hi stud rams, but there was keen competition for the better classes of Hock rains. The upset price fixed was two guineas, and there were very few passings. Entries totalled 1354 against 1074 last year, the .strongest class being Romueys, of which 359 came forward. Top price for studs was 12gns, which was paid for a Corricdalc ram on account of .lames Reid (Darticld). Border Leicesters and Southdowns realised lOgns. In the tloclc section Borders brought up to 7{gns, English Leicesters to Signs, Komneys to lOgns, Corricdales to 7gns, and Southdowns to lOiigns.

POULTRY AND EGGS GOOD I'RICKS KEALISKD iYlacfarlane and Company report the following pi ices at (heir egg sale yesterday:— First grade, up to Is lOd a dozen; second grade, Is 9d a dozen; duck eggs, Is Gd to Is 8d a dozen. The Red Comb Egg and Poultry Company report that all classes of poultry had good sales on Saturday and Wednesday, when heavy entries were received. Country lines" again contained a considerable proportion, with about 100 birds coming from North Otago. The lattery being heavy chicken in prime condition created good competition. Heavy chicken entries were much larger than usual and a decided increase in values ruled, especially at Wednesday's sale. There was a free demand for duckling in good condition, but the majority offered was short of finish. Yearling hens and boilers are selling better than for weeks, which is probably due to supplies falling off. The average prices realised for poultry during the week a pair are as follows: Roasting chicken—Light, to ss: medium, to 7s fid; heavy, to 10s 6d. Hens, light, to 3s 6d: heavy, to 5s 6d. Duckling. to 7s; goslings, to 6s 6d; pullets, to 10s; ducks, to ss; turkeys, lOd per lb live weight. Eggs—Tested, machine graded, guar- | antced fresh, first grade Is 8d; second
