Evans, assistant marine superintendent at Lyttelton, has resumed duty after holiday leave. Seamen's Institute An enjoyable whist drive, arranged by Mrs F. Mintey, on behalf of the Opawa Ladies' Guild of the British Seamen's Society, was held in the Seamen's Institute on Thursday evening. At the close of play prizes, provided by the guild, were presented to the winners, and supper was served. Harbour Light Theatre "The Squatter's Daughter." an Australian production by Cinesound, which will be screened at the Harbour Light Theatre this afternoon and evening, and on Monday evening, is a romance against the colourful background of Australia's pastoral life. Jocelyn Howarth, who recently appeared at the Theatre Royal Christchurch. in the stage plays "The Ten Minute Alibi" and "The Wind and the Rain." heads the cast. The supporting programme includes Richard Tauber in songs, and a Cinesound News. Ambulance Appeal An appeal is being made for donations towards the cost of the new ambulance which has been ordered for the Lyttelton sub-centre of St. John Ambulance Association, and the subcentre notifies that donations may be either posted to the secretary or left at the office of Messrs J.
