RED CROSS APPEAL
TO THI EDITOH Or THE PRESS.
Sir, The Red Cross has started its j winter work a month earlier than usual, and already we are faced wit.i ; many cases of very distressful poverty, j I am reluctant to appeal again through , vour columns, but necessity compels me. Especially do we need bed linen j week one visitor reported j n case where among six children only Iwo old threadbare blankets wea to hP found, and no sheets or pillowcase?. Sheets are impossible to most of our returned soldiers on relief and women, especially when W are ill. dearly love the ieel of nice clean sheets, and they do save the blankets, as we all know. I hoped we were going to be aoie to help with bedding and blankets this t \vinten but the calls on us for warm I underclothes are already so imperal tive that funds cannot be spaied foi such a considerable outlay. Readers will see in the report ol thtj Red Cross women's executive meeting held to-day how many families have alreadv been helped this month, and the number of garments given, bo will thev help us by sending m anything they can spare m the way ot children's and women's dre , sse f coats for men, women, and c '" ld ren, boots and shoes; but above all, bedding and blankets. Parcels may be sent anv morning except Saturday to the I-.ed Cross Depot. 127 Worcester street. —\ouib. etC " AGNES V. WIGRAM. March 29. 1935.
