HILLSBOROUGH RATEPAYERS
A general meeting of the Hillsborough Ratepayers' Association was held on Thursday evening, Mr W. J. Courtier presiding. The president gave a resume of the work transacted by the executive concerning the association's objection to the County Council building the stone fence and wing of the memorial arch of the children's playground on the road, and the proposal to close portion of the north side of Garland's road. Correspondence was placed before the meeting, and members expressed their approval of the progress report submitted. The action of the executive in dealing with the objection was approved, and they were empowered to proceed further with the protest. The secretary reported having re- : nn in niii—'*■*—
regarding the council's annual inspection of the riding on February 7, when the president met the chairman and councillors and placed before them several matters which needed urgent attention and which had now been attended to by the council. The council had erected a light at the Garland's road i-aihvay crossing, which was much appreciated. Further reports were received concerning conditions prevailing in various parts of the riding, and the secretary was instructed to send them forward to the council. Six new members were enrolled at the meeting.
