The Rev. D. C. Herron, speaking at the seventieth anniversary gathering of the Clutha Presbytery at Balclutha on Wednesday, said that in 1879, when education m New Zealand was nationalised, Otago and Southland surrendered to the common cause of Dominion education more endowments than all the rest of New Zealand combined —66 per cent. It, therefore, was a moral injustice to the Otago province on the part of the Government to close the Otago Teachers' Training College. If for a time only two colleges were I required, wherever the other one I might be situated, Otago had a moral right to retain hers. If the blood of our ancestors still ran strongly in our veins, the people of Otago and Southland would never rest until this injustice had been removed and their Teachers' Training College reopened. , ilaK
