SUMNER HIGH SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE Mr L. H. Fee, chairman, presided over the monthly meeting of the committee of the Sumner District High School on Monday evening. Present: Mesdamcs Tombs and Gale and Messrs Lipscombe (secretary), Urquhart (treasurer), R. B. C. Hill, J. Browne, and the Rev. W. A. Martin. Correspondence was received from the Canterbury Education Board stating that it could not undertake the spraying of infected trees. The social committee reported that the recent card evening had proved a success and that the funds had benefited by £B. The headmaster reported that the primary roll was the same as that of last year, and that the roll number of the secondary department had increased by four. He asked the committee to sanction the purchase of a radio gramophone to assist in the school programme. The committee resolved that a demonstration should be procured and that prices should be submitted. The chairman stated that there would be no election this year. It was decided to hold a jumble sale in the Hibernian Hall on Tuesday, March 26.
