CRITICISM OF NEW ZEALAND
"THE ROBBER COUNTRY" !PR«3S ASSOCIVTIO* TKI.EGEAM.) DUNEDIN, March 4. Some stringent criticism of NewZealand by a man who recently returned to England after being constantly employed here for 12 years is contained in a letter just received. .He says that 40 third-class passengers who accompanied him Home were glad to get away from "the robber country." They maintained that with unjust taxation regulations they were "robbed" of everything. The wages tax seemed to be a particularly sore point, as they considered they received nothing when idle. They avowed they were going to advertise New Zealand widely, and attempt to influence their friends against buying our produce.
