The temperature at 4 p.m. was 73 degrees. U ellington—The weather was overcast in the early hours of the mornmg. and there were several very light .showers of rain. During the greater port of the day. however, the conditions were fair and the sun shone at intervals. In the afternoon the sky again became dull and threatening. A moderate south-south-east wind blew. The maximum temperature was 63.4 degrees. Dunedin—The weather was unsettled yesterday, with scattered showers and a fresh south-west wind. Occasional sunshine was recorded. The temperature at midday was 51 degrees, and tho maximum for the day was 53 i degrees. j

FORECAST (From readings taken at 4 p.m.) General Situation--An intense anticyclone covers the Tasman Sea and is crossing on to New Zealand. Winds—Moderate to strong southwest to south-east, decreasing to-mor-row. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Rather rough to rough north of Farewell Spit and south of East Cape, but moderating slowly to-morrow; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea-Moderate southerly winds and moderate seas. Weather—Cloudy along the East Coast, with some scattered showers. A few passing showers also in the far north.
