TOWN PLANNING ADVISER
❖ APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED BY MINISTER TFrom Our Parliamentary Reporter.J WELLINGTON, February 20. The Government has appointed Mr R. B. Hammond, A.N.Z.I.A. M.T.P.1., A.M.T.P.1., of London, architect and town planning consultant to the position of town planning adviser in the Dominion. The Minister for Internal Affairs, the Hon. Sir Alexander Young, in making the announcement to-night, said that Mr Hammond would be attached to his department, and would be available to advise the depart-j ment and the Town Planning Board; on town planning schemes submitted : for consideration by local bodies,; and on other phases of planning. Mr Hammond had already taken up his duties. The Minister added that there were certain town planning schemes at present before the board, and that consideration of these schemes would now be proceeded with, Other schemes submitted would be dealt with as opportunity offered. The Minister also stated that he would take the first opportunity of calling the board together to consider the schemes on hand, and tc deal with certain other questions awaiting decision.
