BOOK REVIEW

Anne of Green Gables. Authorised film version. By L. M. Montgomery. Illustrated with 17 full-page photographs from the film. 322 pp. Angus and Robertson. (2s 9d.) Runaway Rabbit. By Olwen Bowen. Illustrated by L. R. Brightwell. 119 pp. Thomas Nelson and Sons. (2s 6d.) "Anne of Green Gables" is probably the most popular girls' book on the market to-day. It has now been made into a film, with a new star who calls herself Anne Shirley, after the heroine whose part she acts. The film version of the story has been made into a book with 17 full-page photographs of Anne and the other chief actors and actresses ifTthe cast. The story is not altered so very much; in fact, the film book makes very pleasant reading and the pictures add much to its attraction. Those who read the book will await the picture with interest. Miss Olwen Bowen has written a delightful story of a prize Angora rabbit, regal in his white fur, and his name is Sultan in her book, "Runaway Rabbit." The adventures of the ambitious and proud Sultan with the little brown bunnies of the forest—the humble people of the rabbit world—are as exciting as they are amusing. Every child will delight in the plight of Sultan as his fur clings wetly to him when the river floods; and every child will enjoy; other events that lead up to Sultan's return to the hutch in time to win the most prizes, at the biggest show. of his life.
