MEETING OF COUNCIL OP ASSOCIATION The meeting of the district council of the Workers' Educational Association was held on Tuesday evening. There was a good attendance of members, and Mr S. Schofield (vice-pre-sident) occupied the chair. . The secretary reported on the a c « vl " ties of the recent summer school hew at Methven, when there were present 103 persons, comprising 54 women, *5 men, and four children. The report, was adopted. . „ It was decided that the following classes be organised this year:— t In Christchurch: Public speaking* Esperanto, modern drama, history oi New Zealand, English literature, nor-, ticulture, economics, theory of music, psychology, and international relations, and folk dancing. For the outlying districts:—Timaru, literature, public speaking, social aspects of education; Oxford, social psychology, drama; Rangiora, economics; Kaiapoi, public speaking; New Brighton, psychology, literature. A report was received on the wow of the Workers' Educational Association in the Oxford district during tne last 10 years, written by Mr H. C. L>. Somerset, M.A. After discussion, " was resolved that the report oe adopted and that Mr Somerset be congratulated on his work in that district. r The secretary reported that Mr u. J. Garner, the first bursar, had passed three of his examinations at the recent university examinations, and thai only one subject remained to oe passed in order to obtain his BA degree. The secretary was instructed to congratulate Mr Garner on his success. The council decided to organise a trip for the students to Timaru en Sunday next, February 24.
