LONDON'S SHIPPING During the week ended on January 4 946 vessels, representing 932,660 net register tons, used the Port of London. Of these, 409 vessels (715,376 net register tons) were to and from Empire and foreign ports, and 537 vessels (217,284 net register tons) were engaged in coastwise traffic. The arrivals included eight meat cargoes—one from Australia, two from New Zealand, two from South America, and three from North America, comprising 118,000 carcases of lamb and mutton, 78,000 quarters of beef, quantities of pork, rabbits, and sundries. MAUI POMARE ARRIVES The Maui Pomarc, which anchored in the stream at Lyttelton at midnight on Tuesday, berthed yesterday morning, to discharge bananas and general cargo. The vessel brought 7050 cases of bananas from Apia and 2100 cases from Niue, also 15 tons of general cargo. The Maui Pomare experienced fine weather, but a heavy swell was encountered last week, the result of the hurricane at Cook Islands. The following were passengers from Apia: Mr and Mrs A. WAIRANGI'S MAIDEN VOYAGE The new motor-ship Wairangi sailed from Liverpool on Sunday morning on her maiden voyage. She is to discharge in Australia and will proceed to New Zealand for loading. VESSELS LEAVE PANAMA The Karamea and the new motorship Waipawa left Colon on Friday and Monday morning respectively. Both are bound from Napier for London, via Panama, the Karamea having left on January 26 and the Waipawn on January 31.
