Dr H G. Denham was among the passengers from Wellington yesterday morning. Mr G. G. Aitken, who has been seriously ill in St. George's Hospital this week, was reported yesterday to be a little better. The following members of the Legislative Council arrived from Wellington by the Wahine yesterday morning: The Hon. T. O'Bvrne, the Hon. J. A. Hanan and the%on. J. McLeod. Mr C. H. Perkins was elected president of the Canterbury District Public Accountants' Association at the annual meeting of the association held this week. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr W. M. Tyers, the retiring president. The Rt. Rev Monsignor Delanev (Dunedin). the Rt. Rev. Dr. J. Kennedy (Beckenham) and the Rev. fathers Herbert (South Canterbury)

The managership of the Tivoli Theatre will be undertaken hv Mr J. D Carl. Mr J. McL. the c:;a- • pion cornet player of the Domir:"-; in 1927, returned to New Zealand yesterday by the Rangitiki. During his seven years' absence, he has played in numerous well-knov.r. bands and orchestras in Great Britain, America, and Australia, and has also played over the air i:t Xov York and London. He intends to settle in New Zealand, and may compete at the championships at Timaru.—Press Association.
