DAVIS CUP N.Z. AND AUSTRALIA TO PLAY AT EASTBOURNE (UNITED MESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYEIOHT.) MELBOURNE, February 15. New Zealand has chosen Eastbourne as the place for its first round Davis Cup tie against Australia, but the dates have not yet been arranged. Australia prefers May 9, 10, and 11, but New Zealand suggests May 16, 17, and 18. SHIRLEY CLUB The Shirley Tennis Club's competitions are in the final stages. The following are tho latest results:— Men's Doubles—F. R. Amodeo and O. E. W. Edwards lost to J. McDnugall and A. Fanlls, 9-7; J. F. Poulton and T. M. Mitchell lost to F. Bridgen and W. Hay, 9-8. Women's Roubles—Semi-finals: Mrs E. Horsfall and Mrs A. Ohryßtal! beat Mrs Edwards and Mrs Amodeo, 6-4; Mrs Sparrow and Mrs Atkinson lost to Mrs McKay and Miss A. Raven, 6-2. Final: Mrs McKay and Miss A. Raven beat Mrs Horsfall and Mrs Chrystall, 6-4. Men's Championship Singles—Final- W. Hay bent Walsh, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 . Women's Championship Singles—Final: Mrs Chrystall beat Mrs McKay, 9-7. Mixed Doubles —Final: Mrs J. McGregor and E. G. McGregor beat Miss K. King and N. Walsh, 6-5. Women's Handicap Singles—Miss O. McLcod beat Miss K. King, 6-1; Mrs Chrystall beat Mrs Macfarlane, 6-0. Men's Handicap Singles—X. Walsh beat I. BilTcliff, 9-5; T. Johansen beat L. Sutherland. 9-7. W. Hooper and N. A.
