The only dissentient was Mr J. FKr- ~M Gerald, who considered that the hon- *f"' orary system as an adjunct to the I': 1 present stipendiary system would have '>, a great deal to recommend it. ,;'■ ■vj • Personal At the Hospital Board meeting the *,!, i chairman (Major R. Dagger) made re- &, ference to the recent death of Bishop h f Sadlier. Major Dagger said that the ":"' people had lost an old and esteemed friend who as a churchman was broad. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mrs Sadlier and other relatives. ; Export of Fruit « ; Export fruit is not coming forward -*- as freely as last year, with the result that some difficulty is being expert* enced with shipping arrangements, said Mr J. H. Brunt, shipping supervisor for the Fruit Federation at Nelson to-day. It had been realised, however, that the 1935 season's export would show a considerable reduction "V on last year's record of more than "'-. 1,000,000 cases. The total of Gravensteins* this season was only 689 cases i' compared with 3428 last season. Space *"-■ bookings on the estimates given by '"% growers to date were 726,823 cases of * i apples and 44,124 cases of pears. These A estimates were now being revised ?* and the present indications were that *'? the total of export from Nelson would " : not reach those figures, said Mr Brunt '% Referring to direct loadings from ItNelson, Mr Brunt said that no de- -%* finite arrangements had yet been -- J . ; made, but the overseas committee bad v been asked for five shipments to take i" a total of 250,000 cases. Early season shipments could be handled more expeditiously through Wellington. Visit to D'Urville Island . v The Bishop of Nelson, the Rt Rev W G.
